EU funding for raising the quality of bilingual education

The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for the project Raising the quality of bilingual education for the Italian national community in Slovenia and the Slovenian national community in Italy.

As part of this EU-funded project, the Italian self-governing national community living on the Slovenian coast will prepare a series of various activities and workshops to enrich bilingual education and help cultivate a positive attitude towards the Italian or Slovenian language while promoting conservation of cultural heritage. New teaching approaches and teaching methods will upgrade the mother tongue support while strengthening and helping better understand the cultural values of the neighbouring country. The project will contribute to embracing diversity and fostering intercultural dialogue and social inclusion of young people living on both sides of the border.

The project will be implemented under priority Skills and responsive labour market of Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027. It will pursue specific objective Improving the quality, inclusiveness, effectiveness and labour market relevance of education and training systems including through validation of non-formal and informal learning, to support acquisition of key competences including entrepreneurial and digital skills, and by promoting the introduction of dual-training systems and apprenticeships. 

The project is worth a total of 379,716.74 euros; it will receive 151,886.70 euros from the European Social Fund Plus.
