Call for co-funding large investments to boost productivity and competitiveness launched again

The Public Agency SPIRIT Slovenia has again launched the Call for proposals for the promotion of large investments to boost productivity and competitiveness in the Republic of Slovenia, which is implemented in the framework of Slovenia’s Recovery and Resilience Plan. This call for proposals, which was recently cancelled due to the European Commission's requirements to update and amend the conditions for applicants, was published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia No 69/2024 and on the SPIRIT website.

The call for proposals aims to encourage companies to make sustainable investments by investing in more advanced technology and business process automation, for which 11.6 million euros is available. The deadline for submitting applications is 11 September 2024 by 12:00.

The amendment to the published call for proposals relates to the specific conditions for the investment, which the Agency had to amend at the request of the European Commission, in line with the objective of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, which places a strong focus on respecting environmental standards. All the amendments are clearly highlighted on the call for proposals website.

The objective of the call for proposals is to boost the productivity and long-term competitiveness of companies, together with ensuring sustainability and decarbonisation and digitalisation of business. The objectives also include higher value added of products and services in Slovenian exports and higher positioning of Slovenian companies in global value chains, preservation of higher value-added jobs, strengthening of global and local value chains and greater competitiveness of links in supply chains, as well as a more even regional distribution of investments.

The subject of the call for proposals is the co-financing of investments in tangible and intangible fixed assets that will contribute to achieving higher value added per employee, environmentally responsible behaviour, greater energy and material efficiency and the preservation of jobs.

Investors with the following investment are eligible:

  • investment worth from 1 million to 12 million euros in manufacturing,
  • investment worth from 0.5 million to 3 million in the service sector,
  • investment worth from 0,5 million to 2 million euros in research and development activities.

In all three cases, the investment in machinery and equipment should amount to at least 50% of the value of the investment.

The available funding for the call for proposals is 11,603,791 euros. The co-financing of the investment depends on the size of the company and the location on which the investment will be carried out, as well as on the State aid scheme to be applied to the investment in accordance with the provisions of the call for proposals.

The documentation (in slovenian) is available on the Agency’s website.
