Presentation of Slovenian products at the annual Taste of Europe event in Washington

Embassy of Slovenia in Washington attended the annual Taste of Europe event at the Capitol Hill, hosted by the EU delegation to the USA.

On September 12, the European Union delegation in the USA organized the annual Taste of Europe event on Capitol Hill. At the event, Embassy of Slovenia presented Slovenian walnut potica, Carniolan sausages, Vina Koper sparkling wine and Gea pumpkinseed oil. Most of the participants have tried these Slovenian products for the first time and were genuinely impressed.

Javier Sancho Velazquez, the head of the Department for Global Issues and Innovation at the Delegation of the European Union in Washington, and the Ambassador of Greece to the USA, Ekaterina Nassika, addressed the audience, focusing on the global challenges of food security and the importance of strengthening food systems.

Eighteen embassies of European Union member states in Washington, DC, participated in the event. Slovenian Ambassador to the United States Iztok Mirošič also attended the event. This event demonstrated the strong and lasting transatlantic partnership between the European Union and the United States, and highlighted joint efforts to promote a sustainable and prosperous future of agricultural and food systems.

In addition to a rich culinary experience, the Tastes of Europe offers a good platform for dialogue between representatives of the European Union and the United States on the importance of cooperation in the agricultural field, including addressing common challenges such as climate change and sustainable food production.
