Slovenia becomes a member of the D9+ group of digital frontrunners

We are proud to announce that Slovenia has been accepted into the prestigious D9+ group, which brings together digital frontrunners in the European Union. The D9+ group is a platform for cooperation between the countries leading the way in the digital transformation and technological innovation.

On the sidelines of a two-day ministerial meeting continuing today in Denmark, Slovenia has been accepted as a member of the D9+ group. Membership will allow the country to play an even more active role in shaping Europe's digital policy and contribute to the common efforts to achieve the Digital Decade targets and objectives.

During the meeting, Slovenia joined the signing of a declaration by the D9+ members highlighting the importance of the topics discussed at the meeting and proposing steps to address them.

Upon Slovenia being welcomed into the group, the Minister of Digital Transformation, Emilija Stojmenova Duh, stressed the importance of working together to tackle the challenges of the digital age: "The challenges we face are transnational in nature and cannot be addressed by the actions of a single government within the EU. Together, we can turn these challenges into opportunities for innovation and ensure that no one is left behind in the digital transformation."

In her address, the Minister also underlined that Slovenia's membership in the D9+ group confirms the country's commitment to supporting the Digital Decade targets and objectives and promoting digital innovation, while also contributing to European resilience and competitiveness. By joining the D9+, Slovenia will continue to actively contribute to shaping Europe's digital future and will work towards joint projects and pilot initiatives that will boost digital innovation, growth and competitiveness.

Mojca Štruc, Acting Director General of the Digital Society Directorate at the Ministry of Digital Transformation, attended the Copenhagen meeting and represented Slovenia in several key discussions, where she actively contributed to the formulation of positions on the future of digital Europe. She participated in discussions on strengthening regulatory frameworks regarding the online safety of children and young people, and on challenges in the digital marketplace. Other topics discussed included the European Digital Identity Wallet and sustainable digital transformation. The Presence of Mojca Štruc ensured that Slovenian interests and ideas on Europe's digital future are strongly represented in this important international forum.
