In his opening speech, State Secretary Marko Koprivc focused on the telling title of the event, stressing that the conference aimed to put spotlight on key themes shaping today and tomorrow. ’’The world faces an urgent need to transition away from fossil fuels to renewables as climate change is already having far-reaching effects on our lives and the natural environment. So, our efforts are geared towards sustainable clean energy solutions, such as solar and geothermal power. However, the transition to renewables is not only a technological challenge. It is a challenge that requires change in society, the economy and the policies. Thanks to the support from the EEA and Norway Grants we were able to carry out 17 projects that brought together over 90 partners. These projects promoted energy efficiency, helped increase the share of renewables in the electricity mix and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. I would like to take this opportunity and sincerely thank all the partners and organisations that played their part in delivering these projects.’’

Over the past years, the programme has supported a series of projects that aimed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, helped adapt to the growing negative effects of climate change and promoted renewable energy. These efforts have laid important foundations for a sustainable future that is of vital importance both for Slovenia and wider Europe.
