In the immediate aftermath of the floods and landslides, Slovenia sent a rescue team and all necessary equipment to Bosnia and Herzegovina through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. The floods, which have damaged more than 1,100 homes and affected more than 5,000 people, have also claimed 27 lives.

In the worst affected municipalities of Jablanica, Konjic, Fojnica, Kiseljak, Kreševo in Vareš all critical infrastructure has been damaged and some 500 people are still without electricity and clean drinking water.

By mid-November, food and hygiene parcels will have reached at least 250 vulnerable households affected by the floods, providing 1,000 people with basic food and hygiene items for one month. People will also receive cleaning supplies, dehumidifiers and heaters, as well as firewood for homes with wood-burning stoves. A particular focus will be on helping families with young children, single mothers and female-headed households.
