Prime Minister Dr. Golob at the meeting with the newly appointed President of the European Council
Prime Minister Dr. Robert Golob hosted the newly appointed President of the European Council, António Costa, for a working lunch.
The meeting with the Slovenian Prime Minister is part of Costa's tour of EU member states, which he is undertaking before December 1, 2024, when he will assume the presidency of the European Council.
The two discussed the working methods of the European Council and exchanged views on current topics within the European Union and globally. They placed particular emphasis on EU enlargement, the situation in the Western Balkans and Ukraine, and other topics that will be central to discussions at European Council meetings through the end of the year.
The European Council elected the former Portuguese Prime Minister as its new president in June this year.
