"The closure of the three chapters, after years of delay and political instability, sends a highly significant message to both Montenegro and the EU. This marks the beginning of a new phase in the accession negotiations, during which it will be essential for Montenegro to maintain momentum, uphold political consensus and remain focused on its EU membership objectives," Minister Fajon stated in her address.

Last week, Minister Fajon visited Podgorica, where she received an update on the current state of play and the Montenegrin government’s efforts to advance on its European path. Addressing the Intergovernmental Conference, she encouraged Montenegro to continue its reform efforts and to address all outstanding issues that could hinder its progress towards EU accession. Minister Fajon also reaffirmed Slovenia's strong support for EU enlargement and urged the Western Balkan countries to seize the historic opportunity presented by the current momentum in the enlargement process. She reiterated Slovenia's readiness to continue providing pre-accession assistance to Montenegro.

The Minister congratulated Montenegro and added that she was proud of this joint achievement.
