The agreement provides for the co-financing of activities that will help to raise Slovenia’s international profile as an innovative and scientifically advanced country.

The Science Fund will be used by Slovenian diplomatic missions to present the outstanding achievements and innovations of Slovenian scientific research at specific major international events abroad, following the example of the Culture, Project Economy and Development Funds, which are co-financed by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and other relevant ministries.

The aim of the programme is to promote bilateral and multilateral international cooperation in science and innovation, to increase the visibility and competitiveness of the Slovenian research environment at the international level, to connect the "scientific" diaspora with Slovenia and to strengthen the reputation of Slovenian science in the global research community.

This agreement is an important step towards making science diplomacy a tool of Slovenian foreign policy that will strengthen networking, knowledge exchange and the promotion of Slovenian scientific achievements in the international environment. In 2025, the two ministries will each contribute €30,000 to the Science Fund.
