Another great achievement of Slovenia's diplomacy – the IRENA Presidency
This unique opportunity affirms Slovenia's leading role in addressing global energy and climate challenges, and its growing international prestige.
By clearly committing to climate neutrality and the energy transition, Slovenia is taking on responsibility for bringing countries together with a joint vision: a future based on justice, accessibility and clean energy for all. It is assuming a key role in developing global solutions for the energy transition and a more sustainable future.
Minister of the Environment, Climate and Energy Bojan Kumer said: "By presiding at the IRENA Assembly, Slovenia has a unique opportunity to become a global voice in the transition to renewable energy. As a country committed to climate neutrality and the energy transition, Slovenia wants to achieve these goals by contributing to integration at the global level, so that together we can shape a future based on justice, accessibility and clean energy for all."
By performing this important task, Slovenia not only strengthens its position among the leading countries in the field of renewable energy, but sets an example for the entire international community. Together with its partners, it will strive to accelerate the energy transition and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, in accordance with the global Sustainable Development Goals.
This session of the IRENA Assembly, bringing together 170 Member States and the European Union, is taking place today and tomorrow in Abu Dhabi. It is important for the development of a joint vision for the future of energy at the global level. There are some 1,400 attendees and 2,000 participants at the conference.
While holding the presidency of the IRENA Assembly, Slovenia will demonstrate that a small country can be a big leader in the global fight against climate change.
