EU funding for Slovenj Gradec sports hall extension

The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for the project Slovenj Gradec sports hall extension.

As part of the EU co-funded project, the Urban Municipality Slovenj Gradec will build a new extension to the Slovenj Gradec Sports Hall. This will result in the technological modernisation of the existing public sports facilities and outdoor sports areas as well as improve the quality and raise the number of publicly accessible sports areas in the urban and natural environment. The project will also improve accessibility to public sports facilities and outdoor areas for people with different types and levels of disabilities, as well as establish the conditions to protect public sports infrastructure against future natural disasters. 2,267.3 m² will be renovated as part of the project.        

The project Slovenj Gradec sports hall extension is implemented under Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027, priority Sustainable development of local areas and pursues the specific objective Fostering the integrated and inclusive social, economic and environmental development, culture, natural heritage, sustainable tourism, and security in urban areas.

The bulk of the funding for the project, worth 2.889.197,95 euros, will come from the European Regional Development Fund, i.e. 2,455,818.26 euros.
