Signing of the joint action plan at the Portuguese Institute of Industrial Property

On 13 and 14 January 2025, a delegation from the Slovenian Intellectual Property Office visited the Portuguese Institute of Industrial Property. The visit took place within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding concluded between the two offices in Ljubljana in March 2024, with the main objective of exchanging good practices and strengthening cooperation in the field of industrial property.

During the visit, the heads of the two offices, Karin Žvokelj and Ana Bandeira, signed an Action Plan for 2025, which includes a number of joint initiatives, with particular attention on promoting mediation and arbitration in the field of patents at the Unified Patent Court, exchanging knowledge and experience in the field of geographical indications, and organising training events in the field of industrial property.

A separate meeting of IT experts from both offices was also held on the margins of the meeting to identify opportunities for further strengthening synergies in this area.

Several activities have already been carried out jointly by the two Offices in 2024. These include a joint campaign on World Anti-Counterfeiting and Anti-Piracy Day and a bilateral meeting in the framework of the WIPO General Assembly in July. We also worked closely on the content and speakers at the International Conference on Geographical Indications and Collective Marks in Gastronomy and Tourism in Brdo pri Kranju last November.
