The discussion focused on key issues affecting the quality of life of people with disabilities, including personal assistance, the adequacy of the translation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and the disability component of the pension reform.

The debate on personal assistance focused on the proposal for a new regulation on the pay of personal assistants. Disabled people's organisations will provide written feedback and discussions will continue as necessary.

The Government has recognised the need for a broader debate and revision of the translation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and the process is already underway. The Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities has proposed this revision as part of the invitation to submit proposals for priority research topics for a public call to select research projects under the Target Research Programme (CRP) in 2025.

The aim of the revision is to ensure the translation's legal, terminological, linguistic and cultural adequacy.

The disability component of the pension reform is scheduled for discussion at the Economic and Social Council's first session in March. Therefore, at the end of February 2025, the competent ministry, in cooperation with the Prime Minister's Office, will convene a separate meeting with the disabled people's organisations to present them the framework solutions for the disability part of the pension reform and provide an opportunity for feedback and suggestions.

Meetings between the Prime Minister, relevant ministries and representatives of disabled people's organisations will continue, serving as an important platform for identifying and addressing systemic challenges faced by persons with disabilities and for monitoring the implementation of agreed measures.
