Artificial Intelligence Revolution: Minister Klampfer joins world leaders in Paris

Paris is this week hosting the world's most influential leaders, visionaries and experts for a crucial meeting on the future of artificial intelligence (AI). The AI Action Summit is shaping the key guidelines for AI development, with the active involvement of the Minister of Digital Transformation, Ksenija Klampfer.

The event brings together representatives from over 100 countries, as well as thousands of stakeholders from the private sector and civil society. Key participants include French President Emmanuel Macron, US Vice President J.D. Vance, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, music producer and entrepreneur Pharrell Williams, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Summit's main goals are to develop AI for the public good, ensure its sustainability, establish a global AI governance framework and build trust in its use.

Participants adopted the Statement on Inclusive and Sustainable Artificial Intelligence for People and the Planet, which envisages the development of trustworthy and responsible AI. The Summit also adopted the Paris Declaration on Maintaining Human Control in AI-enabled Weapon Systems, call for the responsible development of AI in accordance with international law, in particular international humanitarian law. Another important outcome was the adoption of the Paris Charter on Artificial Intelligence in the Public Interest, which advocates an inclusive and responsible approach to AI design that benefits diverse communities, fosters innovation and strengthens international cooperation. In support of this vision, Slovenia has committed to provide high-performance computing services to the Foundation as part of its contribution to AI development in the public interest.

"Europe must take a leading role in the development of safe, ethical and sustainable artificial intelligence," said Minister Klampfer at the end of today's Summit. She added: "Slovenia will contribute with its knowledge, technology and experience to create AI that is accessible, fair and beneficial for all. The focus should be on fostering international cooperation, sharing expertise and establishing robust development frameworks that ensure safety, uphold ethical principles, and respect human rights."
