Handing over the business in the Slovenian Prison Administration

In mid-February 2025, the General Office of the Slovenian Prison Administration held an official handover between the new Director-General, Denis Perše, who has taken up the office on 15 February 2025, and the former Head of the Office, mag. Bojan Majcen, who became Deputy Director-General on the same day.

The handover was attended by the Minister of Justice, Andreja Katič. During the discussion, the interlocutors touched upon current issues and the biggest challenges of the Slovenian prison system and how to address them, including the completion of the project for the construction of a new prison in Dobrunje, replacing the current one in Ljubljana. The outgoing Director-General handed over to his successor a handover handbook containing key information on the different areas of the administration's work and wished him success.

Director-General Denis Perše started his career in 2000 at the Dob Prison in Mirna, where he held various positions, including management positions. Since May 2020, he has been the Director of the Ljubljana Prison. In November 2024, he became Deputy Director-General, and on 15 February 2025, he took up the post of the Director-General of the Slovenian Prison Administration, to which he was appointed by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for a five-year term of office, with the possibility of reappointment.
