The seminar with over 40 participants from business, banking and science launched the BID for the Americas programme. This is a new initiative of the Inter-American Development Bank aimed at strengthening economic ties and promoting business opportunities with the LAC region. Opportunities for cooperation and projects in public procurement, forest management, trade, investment and co-financing were presented to Slovenian companies and institutions.

Speaking at the seminar, Dr Melita Gabrič, State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, stressed the importance of organising such events to strengthen cooperation with the region. The Ministry promotes links with Latin America and the Caribbean by hosting the LAC Days international conference, which it has organised annually since 2018 in cooperation with various partners.

Slovenia's activities in the framework of EU-LAC cooperation are particularly focused on digitalisation and AI. Additional opportunities are also opening up through trade and investment agreements between the EU and regional institutions or individual countries in the region.
