State Secretary Gabrič underlined Slovenia's firm commitment to the two-state solution, which is the right way to achieve peaceful and secure coexistence between Israelis and Palestinians, as well as the key to lasting peace and stability in the region. She expressed concern about the breakdown of the ceasefire and the continued blockade, which seriously threaten humanitarian access to the population. The situation is further exacerbated by the ban on the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.
State Secretary Gabrič went on to stress the importance of strict compliance with international law, in particular international humanitarian law and human rights law, which Slovenia consistently advocates as a member of the UN Security Council. She welcomed the comprehensive plan for the reconstruction of Gaza adopted at the Extraordinary Arab Summit in Cairo on 4 March, which also underlines the crucial role of Arab States and the Palestinian ownership of the process itself.
Slovenia sees the Meeting as a preparation for the upcoming UN Conference on Palestine in June 2025.
