Declaration on the Activities of the Republic of Slovenia in EU Institutions until June 2026 adopted
The National Assembly has adopted the Declaration on the Activities of the Republic of Slovenia in EU Institutions for the period until June 2026.
The Declaration focuses on key challenges in various areas that the EU will face during this period. It is a key strategic document that defines the guidelines for the activities of the representatives of the Slovenian Government in discussions and in the drafting of legislation and other documents, especially in the Council of the EU. At the same time, it aims to provide a broader framework for the coordinated and effective representation of Slovenian interests in the European Union.
The document is concise and strategically oriented, structured into five key chapters covering the following thematic areas:
- Strengthened Europe's competitiveness for sustainable prosperity, focusing on innovation, digital transformation, energy efficiency, future technologies, promotion of entrepreneurship and strengthening Europe’s competitive edge in the global market.
- Maintaining a high quality of life in Europe, focusing on issues such as the Common Agricultural Policy and food security, cohesion, environmental and climate goals, the European social model, culture and audiovisual affairs.
- A resilient and secure Europe, with key issues such as European defence, cybersecurity and hybrid threats, migration and protection of citizens.
- The European Union as an active player in its neighbourhood and in the world, including diplomacy, trade relations, development aid and multilateralism.
- A forward-looking European Union, focusing on EU reforms, EU enlargement, the multiannual financial framework, democracy and the rule of law.
