NATO Chiefs of Defence to meet in Ljubljana
The conference hosted by Chief of the General Staff, Major General Alenka Ermenc will be chaired by Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach, supported by his strategic commanders. The key topics of the conference discussions will include missions, operational activities, maintaining readiness and the Alliance’s deterrence posture, as well as building a concept of warfare in a modern security environment that will be able to meet contemporary security challenges.
The organization and execution of the conference is a national project with more than 600 involved personnel from the SAF and other governmental and non-governmental institutions of the Republic of Slovenia. More than 400 conference participants are expected to attend the conference, including some 150 distinguished guests. Conference participants will be accommodated at the Grand Hotel Union, which will also be the venue of the conference. However, during their stay, participants will also visit other places around Slovenia.
Slovenia is hosting the conference in a symbolic year marking both the 15th anniversary of Slovenia’s joining the Euro-Atlantic Alliance, and 70th anniversary of the North Atlantic Alliance.
The ambition of the conference organizers and hosts is to promote the Republic of Slovenia and the SAF as a credible partner of the Alliance and an unforgettable tourist destination, to which guests will return time and again.
