Slovenia among the hottest destinations of 2020
The hottest tourist destinations in the coming year will be Japan, Slovenia and Antarctica, Business Insider learned in an interview with Albert Herrera of the US company Virtuoso, which is involved in luxury travel.
Herrera singled out Slovenia as an alternative to the usual European destinations. “It’s fresh, different but still in Europe,” is how Herrera described Slovenia, adding that it is not far from a number of airports.
He also says Slovenia is known for its mountains, ski resorts and picturesque glacial lakes, but at the same time a trip to Slovenia will not leave a big hole in your wallet.
Tourism in Slovenia has recorded impressive growth in recent years. In the first nine months of this year, the country was visited by 5.1 million tourists who had 13.2 million overnight stays, representing 6 percent more revenue and 2 percent more overnights than in the same period of last year. Last year in total Slovenia was visited by 5.93 million tourists, who accounted for 15.69 million overnights.
