State Secretary Simona Leskovar at the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs received the Ukrainian delegation and representatives of the U-LEAD project. The delegation is visiting Slovenia as part of the high-level study visit on Slovenia’s regional development policy organised by the Centre for European Perspective. The Ukrainian delegation headed by First Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories of Ukraine Dmytro Zhyvytskyy is composed of representatives of the Ministry of Regional Development, the Verkhovna Rada and the Office of the President.
State Secretary Leskovar noted the excellent and friendly relations between the two countries. She went on to voice Slovenia’s support for Ukraine’s commitment to Euro-Atlantic integration and commended its progress in the implementation of reforms, particularly regarding the rule of law and anti-corruption efforts. “We follow with great interest Ukraine’s progress in decentralisation,” she said and recalled that “Slovenia provides support for projects contributing to this aim through the Centre for European Perspective, which organises study visits for local and regional representatives from Ukraine.” Another important form of cooperation is the development aid provided by Slovenia to Ukraine.
