The strategic basis for the Green Slovenian Location Framework (GreenSLO4D)

Having connected infrastructure, digital technologies, and joint databases is a crucial prerequisite for achieving climate goals, supporting the circular economy, maintaining ecosystems and biotic diversity, and efficiently using energy resources.  Developing and using modern innovative technology for an even faster green transformation make up one of the key strategic objectives that Slovenia is pursuing hand-in-hand with the United Nations (UN) and European Union (EU).

In order to implement the strategic guidelines of the United Nations’ standing committee for Global Geospatial Information Management (UN GGIM), the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning, today the Ministry of Natural Resources and Spatial Planning, drew up in 2021 the Integrated Location Framework, its strategic plan for digitalizing data on spatial planning and the environment, which formed the foundation for the Green Slovenian Location Framework (GreenSLO4D).
