World Food Safety Day is always an opportunity to re-think our food safety and the responsibilties that everyone in the agri-food chain - from producer to consumer - has to keep it that way. But this year, the focus is a little different: alongside safety, the fear of food insecurity as a result of the war in Ukraine is coming to the fore. Moreover, as the statistics office notes, the self-sufficiency rate in 2021 was largely lower than the previous year due to bad weather conditions. The Slovenian government, which has just come into office, is therefore working fast to prepare targeted measures to mitigate the significant increases in food and energy prices forecasted for the autumn.
