In the framework of NATO’s stronger deterrence and defence, on which heads of state and government agreed, Slovenia is willing to act primarily where it can contribute the most, said Prime Minister Robert Golob after the NATO summit in Madrid. In his opinion, this is the Western Balkans, which NATO should not overlook as it strengthens its presence on its eastern flank. Slovenia reiterated its strong support for the countries of the Western Balkans and their European perspective, a stable Bosnia and Herzegovina being in its national interest.
The basketball spectacle in Stožice and the start of Tour de France are sporting events that mark the beginning of the new month and provide an opportunity to escape from the worries of the everyday world. Slovenia’s basketball team beat the Croatian national team on the wings of their fans in the sold-out Stožice hall and and qualified for the second part of the World Cup qualifiers. Basketball lovers witnessed a true spectacle, the main stars of which were Luka Dončić and Goran Dragić, who wore the national team jersey for the last time in front of the home fans. Today, two more sports heroes are stepping into the spotlight: these are Tadej Pogačar and Primož Roglič, the main contenders for the final celebration in the Tour de France bicycle race, which begins with a time trial in Copenhagen.
Slovenia has been hit by a heat wave. According to meteorologists' first estimates, this year's summer could be one of the hottest in history. Significant thermal loads have once again highlighted the problem of higher temperatures in cities.
