Slovenia Weekly: Before the autumn

In the coming months, rising energy prices are expected to have a profound impact on people’s lives. At its first regular session after the break, the Government adopted measures to help the most vulnerable groups, who will receive a bonus of at least EUR 200. These vulnerable groups are people with disabilities and the socially disadvantaged. This aid will be paid out between early November and late March. Additional assistance due to rising electricity and gas prices will also be provided to businesses, the main target being small and medium-sized enterprises.

We are a good week away from this year’s biggest sports event in Slovenia, the Volleyball World Championship. The 20th championship will be hosted by Slovenia together with Poland, after this partner country assumed the event’s co-organisation from Russia. Our volleyball players are eagerly awaiting their chance to play before a home audience. After the European Championship held in Stožice three years ago, anticipation leading up to a new round of volleyball fever has been growing. The best teams in the world will compete for the world title between 26 August and 11 September. During this time, Ljubljana will host 30 games between teams from four pools.
