Slovenia Weekly: Respect arising from understanding

Ahead of its first anniversary, the government ensures that care for pensioners is one of the focal points of its programme. Over the next year and a half, the reform of the pension system is expected to be carried out with the package of measures worth EUR 100 million adopted by the government at the last session, which addresses the groups of pensioners most at risk.

National communities enrich us; therefore, we must take good care of them, emphasised Prime Minister Robert Golob at the signing of the cooperation agreement with the deputies of the Italian and Hungarian national communities. "The agreement provides a stable framework for the proper functioning of both communities. This is a key commitment and a key objective of the agreement," said the Prime Minister, adding that the objective is to enhance the position of national communities.

In May, we are celebrating four very important nature conservation-related events – World Bee Day (20 May), the European Natura 2000 Day (21 May), the International Day for Biological Diversity (22 May), and the European Day of Parks (24 May). In Slovenia, we attach particular importance to these days, with regard to the promotion of nature and raising awareness among the population. Protection comes from respect, and respect arises from understanding.
