Slovenia Weekly: Message of Solidarity

The wife of the President of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, and the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and the Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Yulia Svyrydenko, visited Slovenia and met with the Slovenian Prime Minister, Robert Golob. During their meeting, the Prime Minister emphasised that Slovenia was one of the first countries to offer assistance to Ukraine and reaffirmed its commitment to continue doing so. Most of the funds will continue to be earmarked for humanitarian projects to help those most affected. The Prime Minister reiterated Slovenia's support for Ukraine on its path towards the European Union and NATO, noting that NATO membership can only be achieved with the consensus of all member states. He assured that Slovenia would remain a reliable partner and supporter of Ukraine. The visit took place on the 1000th day since the start of the Russian aggression, with Slovenia joining the global wave of solidarity with Ukraine.

On the occasion of World Children's Day and the 35th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, Prime Minister Golob welcomed UNICEF Slovenia's Junior Ambassadors, who symbolically presented him with a heavy school backpack containing children's stories of their hardship. UNICEF Slovenia launched the impressive campaign Hardships from Lockers (Stiske iz omaric), displaying 90 school lockers filled with messages from children sharing their distress. Prime Minister Golob thanked the Junior Ambassadors for their message and praised their efforts. "I know how difficult it is to speak openly about these issues, and those of you who are helping each other are truly brave and are carrying out a great mission," he said.
