Results for the future

"Today, Slovenia is experiencing economic growth above the European Union average, an exceptional employment rate—the highest ever—and virtually zero inflation, which is significantly better than the EU average", said Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob at the Slovenian Economic Summit.

This year's Summit is focused on urgent measures to ensure energy, technological and food security, aiming for maximum independence, reliable and competitive self-sufficiency. Now, unlike previous crises, we are facing a crisis within the EU, and the result is a decrease in orders. Therefore, it is the task of this Government to recognise such situations and address them immediately and effectively. Prime Minister Golob also presented three measures that are underway: recording of working hours, changes in taxation, and monitoring the increase in network charges for companies, for the implementation of which the Government will introduce a special working group. "These are not easy times, and conditions may not improve within a year. However, I hope we can sustain the results Slovenia has achieved today. Let this serve as our inspiration," concluded the Prime Minister.

The European Parliament approves the appointment of Marta Kos as European Commissioner for Enlargement. The enlargement portfolio, which will be headed by a Commissioner from Slovenia, is of utmost importance to the European Union in the period ahead for ensuring stability and security in the Western Balkans and particularly in Ukraine, where a real possibility for a peaceful solution is emerging for the first time.
