An important sign of confidence in Slovenia and a strong message at a time of global economic uncertainty is the improvement of Fitch's credit rating outlook for Slovenia from stable to positive. Fitch upgraded the outlook for Slovenia due to progress made in several areas. Particularly highlighted were public finances, which have been showing good results for some time. Fitch also noted progress in structural reforms addressing the long-standing fiscal burden due to an aging population. Just last week social partners signed an agreement on the alignment of draft amendments to the pension act. Overall, according to the agency, additional strengths include Slovenian economy's resilience to external shocks, a strong external trade position, as well as stable economic growth and a stable political landscape.
