Andreja But is an university graduate of agricultural engineering with a masters degree in agricultural economics. She has many years of experience in the field of management as well as enacting inspection controls.

From the beginning of 2011 until April 2019, she worked as the director of the wine inspection, and from april 2019 onwards she led the agricultural inspectorate at the Inspectorate of Agriculture, Forestry, Hunting and Fishing. Alongside leading inspections she ran the regional unit Celje of the aforementioned inspectorate the whole time and from the year 2003 onwards also acted as an inspector there. She led the regional coordination of inspections in the Savinjska region for two mandates.
