About the Metrology Institute

The Metrology Institute manages and develops the metrology system in Slovenia, including the system for the conformity assessment of precious metal articles.

Metrology is a key component of a technical infrastructure necessary for the successful economic, technological and scientific development of Slovenia and a quality and secure life for its citizens. The Institute represents Slovenia within international metrology organisations and develops the areas in its competence in an internationally comparable and distinguishable way.

Vision and goals

The Metrology Institute establishes and manages the national metrology system. Thus it ensures international comparability and recognisability while guaranteeing protection of consumers, especially in the areas of health protection, protection of the environment and general technical safety. In so doing, it helps the Slovenian economy to achieve international competitiveness.
