Dr Samo Kopač
Dr Samo Kopač graduated in physics and obtained a Ph.D. in physical sciences. He assumed his position as Director of the Metrology Institute of the Republic of Slovenia in December 2010. He focused on metrology from the very beginning of his career at the Jožef Stefan Institute, where he dealt, among other things, with precision measurement systems (mainly length and angle and optical quantities). From 1995, he headed the national accreditation service at the then Standards and Metrology Institute and later at Slovenian Accreditation. Today, he has more than 35 years of work experience, a good number of published original scientific articles and rich international experience, especially experience in Slovenia's cooperation with the European Union. As Director of the Metrology Institute of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Samo Kopač actively participates at the highest levels of bodies of international organisations, where he represents the metrology interests of the Republic of Slovenia in the field of metrology such as:
- Metre Convention,
- International Organization of Legal Metrology,
- European Association of National Metrology Institutes and others.
