Intellectual Property Law Division
The Intellectual Property Law Division's tasks are conducting procedures for issuing licenses for the collective management of copyright and related rights and include:
- administrative supervision of the activities of collective management organizations,
- conducting minor offence procedures in which SIPO is the minor offence authority under the Collective Management of Copyright and Related Rights Act,
- performing other statutory tasks in the field of copyright law (e.g. participation in meetings of assemblies of collective management organizations),
- conducting procedures concerning extraordinary legal remedies against administrative decisions of SIPO,
- conducting procedures concerning motions for restitution,
- providing professional assistance to the Director of SIPO in representing SIPO in administrative and civil disputes,
- preparing guidelines for the State Attorney's Office of the Republic of Slovenia in representing the Republic of Slovenia or SIPO in compensation proceedings,
- participating in the preparation of regulations in the field of intellectual property,
- preparing initiatives for accession to international treaties in the field of intellectual property,
- preparing draft responses of the Republic of Slovenia to proposed secondary EU legislation in the field of intellectual property law,
- representing the interests of the Republic of Slovenia in the field of copyright at meetings of working groups of the Council of the EU,
- providing professional explanations in the field of intellectual property law to the District State Attorney's Office,
- preparing SIPO's responses in supervisory, administrative, inspection and other procedures conducted by other competent authorities.
