The Analyses and Licensing Section prepares safety analyses, cooperates with authorised organisations in this area, produces expert rationales for deciding in administrative procedures relating to safety analyses, reviews safety analyses submitted by clients, reviews analyses and evaluations of modifications carried out in nuclear facilities, and reviews nuclear safety analyses and assessments resulting from these modifications and improvements.

In addition, it gathers and analyses foreign operating experience data, gathers and evaluates new foreign requirements and practices, and functions as analytical support in the conduct of administrative procedures. The activities of the Section include software-based nuclear safety assessment analyses, preparation and implementation of the emergency plan, guidance of and participation in the expert group for accident analysis, organisation of a technical support centre for analysing and predicting outcomes in the event of a nuclear accident, maintenance of the software for analysing nuclear reactor processes, implementation of the Convention on Nuclear Safety, and coordination with the IAEA and adaptation to the International Nuclear and Radiological Event Scale (INES) system and the Incident Reporting System (IRS) for nuclear facilities.
