The Information Security Inspectorate is an independent internal organizational unit of the Office of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for Information Security (GISO). It is responsible for conducting inspection oversight of the obligated entities under the Information Security Act (ZInfV).

The Inspectorate is responsible for conducting inspection oversight of the implementation of:

  • provisions of the Information Security Act (ZInfV) and regulations issued under it, applicable to essential service providers, digital service providers, government bodies, and associated entities,
  • measures that GISO orders to obligated entities through administrative decisions in the event of a serious or critical incident, a cyberattack, or the declaration of a state of heightened threat to the security of networks or information systems,
  • measures that GISO orders to electronic communications operators through administrative decisions in cases of serious or critical incidents, cyberattacks, or the declaration of a state of heightened threat to the security of networks and services provided by electronic communications operators.

The Inspectorate also performs preventive tasks, including:

  • responding to written inquiries from individuals, companies, and institutions regarding the operations of the Inspectorate,
  • actively participating in various events to inform the interested public about identified irregularities and the consequences of regulatory violations,
  • advising obligated entities on achieving compliance with regulations in the field of information security.
