Danijel Levičar

Danijel Levičar was born in 1975. He started his career in 2000 as a reactor engineer at the Krško Nuclear Power Plant and became an EURATOM Inspector in Luxembourg for the European Commission in 2005. Between 2010 and 2011, he worked for the International Atomic Energy Agency (the IAEA) in Vienna, where he was responsible for the development of new concepts and long-term planning of safeguards in nuclear facilities. Between 2011 and 2013, he was the head of the planning department and the head of the technical sector and investments at GEN energija in Krško. Between 2013 and 2016, he worked at the Ministry of Infrastructure as Director-General of the Energy Directorate. Between 2016 and 2021, he was a management board member at GEN-I, after which he became Managing Director of GEN energija.
Danijel Levičar has been working in the field of energy for more than 20 years. He holds a university degree in physics and a master’s degree in business management. He has built his career both at home and abroad. He has obtained work experience at companies of the GEN Group (the Krško Nuclear Power Plant, GEN and GEN-I), international organisations (the European Commission and the IAEA) and the Ministry of Infrastructure.
He has years of practical experience with nuclear technology, the operation of nuclear systems, energy markets, international nuclear legislation, energy policies and company management.
He sees his mission and purpose in designing concepts and project implementation, paving the way towards energy independence and climate neutrality. He is also active outside energy circles.
He lives with his family in Leskovec pri Krškem.
