State Aid and Research Activity Section
The State Aid and Research Activity Section assesses and monitors State aid schemes in the agriculture, forestry, fisheries and aquaculture sectors and in rural areas, as well as de minimis aid for primary production in agriculture, fisheries and aquaculture. We also coordinate and monitor research activities in the Ministry’s areas of work.
Regarding State aid and de minimis aid, the section performs the following tasks:
- Advising State aid administrators on the development and implementation of aid schemes;
- Evaluating applications for the notification of aid schemes to ensure compliance with the rules of the Republic of Slovenia and the European Union rules on State aid and de minimis aid;
- Issuing opinions on the compliance of State aid schemes under the block exemption in agriculture, forestry, fisheries and aquaculture and de minimis aid schemes in primary production in agriculture, fisheries and aquaculture;
- Submitting to the European Commission applications for notification of State aid not covered by the EU block exemption regulations in the agriculture, forestry, fisheries and aquaculture sectors and coordinating their alignment between the European Commission and the State aid administrator;
- Drafting annual reports on State aid granted in the agriculture, forestry, fisheries and aquaculture sectors and on the effectiveness of State aid granted;
- Participation in the European Commission's State Aid Working Group.
With regard to research activities, our section is responsible for the following tasks:
- Providing expert assistance to participants in R&D projects funded by Slovenia and the EU;
- Monitoring the implementation of R&D projects funded by Slovenia and the EU;
- Participation in R&D projects funded by the EU;
- Participation in the working bodies of the European Commission and other international organisations for research activities in the agriculture, forestry, fisheries and food sectors;
- Cooperating with experts and governmental and non-governmental organisations in the relevant fields of the Ministry's activities.
