About the Ministry of Culture

The Ministry of Culture performs tasks in the areas of arts, culture, cultural heritage, the media, the Slovenian language, freedom of religion, cultural diversity and human rights. It is also responsible for the organisation of state ceremonies.

The Ministry ensures a supportive environment for the development of culture and the arts. It supports the creativity of public cultural institutes, non-governmental organisations and the self-employed in culture. The Ministry strives for the integrated conservation of cultural heritage, aware that cultural heritage is a mark of a nation and a state and a source of economic and social development. It carries out measures to ensure the plurality of the Slovenian media sphere and that everyone has access to high-quality and diverse media content. Since the Slovenian language is the cornerstone of our existence, the Ministry strives to preserve its usage, vitality and dynamics.
