Borut Sajovic
Borut Sajovic was born on 18 July 1960 in Kranj. After finishing high school, he studied at the Veterinary Faculty and graduated with honours. In 1988, he obtained his master’s degree while working full-time. He was a fieldwork veterinarian in Tržič and the surrounding area for over 20 years. During his time as municipal councillor and President of the Kovor Local Community, he always strived to contribute to the municipality’s development. In 2006, he became the Mayor of the Municipality of Tržič, remaining in office until his election to the National Assembly in 2022. During his term as Mayor, the municipality’s balance sheet total more than quadrupled, while debt decreased and liquidity improved, all driven by the high investment cycle.
Between 2004 and 2011, he was a deputy of the National Assembly. In 2022, he won his third term as deputy and became the leader of Svoboda, the largest deputy group in Slovenia’s history.
He is a veteran of the War for Slovenian Independence. A keen nature lover, he is an environmentalist, small ecological farmer and beekeeper. He is also a dedicated athlete. According to him, his most admirable personal traits are honesty, sincerity, optimism and love for animals and nature.
