Budget Directorate

The work of the Budget Directorate focuses on public finances and economic policy. It is responsible for a coordinated monitoring and planning of public finances or the general government sector in statistical terms. It sets short- and medium-term fiscal goals and defines the frameworks for general government budgets, i.e. those of the central government, the Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia, the Pension and Disability Insurance Institute of Slovenia and municipalities. The Directorate prepares and implements the central government budget, including the plan of development programmes. It also performs tasks associated with the funding of municipalities and supervises the implementation of municipal budgets. With respect to EU funds, the Budget Directorate certifies eligible expenses to be reimbursed to Slovenia by the EU.
