Economic and Fiscal Policy Directorate
The tasks of the Economic and Fiscal Policy Directorate are to (co-)formulate global public finance policies, fiscal policies and structural measures of economic policy in the general government sector as well as to coordinate EU policies. The Directorate prepares fiscal scenarios as the methodological, substantive and quantitative basis for the preparation of strategic documents and for the purpose of development planning. Through the projections for four public finance budgets, individual units of the general government sector, and by studying the impacts and effects of fiscal policy and structural reforms on economic and other factors, the Directorate prepares an assessment of the medium-term balance and long-term projections, and assesses fiscal risks. Its work includes the preparation of public finance statistics, the monitoring of general government revenue and expenditure, the preparation of consolidated public finance budgetary accounts and the general government accounts in accordance with international methodologies, and the formulation and coordination of policies and documents within the European Semester (the National Reform Programme, the Stability Programme and the Draft Budgetary Plan). The Directorate is involved in formulating the multiannual financial framework, economic and monetary union and EU development (the recovery and resilience plan, refundable funds), which includes managing the Ministry's cooperation with competent foreign and national authorities, institutions and credit rating agencies.
