The Legal Service manages and decides on appeals against administrative decisions of the Ministry of Health, manages the most complex administrative procedures for the authorisation of medical examinations, drafts or participates in the drafting of internal acts of the Ministry, and coordinates the protection of personal data, participating in the preparation of positions and coordination in pre-trial and preliminary proceedings before EU bodies, the Court of Justice of the EU and the ECtHR in cooperation with the relevant organisational units of the Ministry depending on the subject area and the The State Attorney's Office, and monitoring court proceedings in the field of healthcare before the EU courts.

The Service prepares and monitors the implementation of the normative Work Programme of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia and maintains the Register of Regulations of the Republic of Slovenia, coordinates IPP matters, notifies EU directives, manages procedures related to the management of immovable and movable property managed by public health care institutions, whose founder is the Republic of Slovenia, participates in the drafting of the founding acts and statutes of public health care institutions whose founder is the Republic of Slovenia, carries out legal reviews of documents or materials in accordance with the Ministry's internal rules and provides legal support to organisational units or the Ministry of Health, as appropriate, in the field of health care.
