Andreja Kokalj gained work experience in the judiciary, the research sector, local self-government and the public sector. In 2016, she obtained her master's degree from the postgraduate master's study program in the theory of law and the state at the Faculty of Law of the University of Ljubljana and obtained the title of master of science. In the same year, she obtained a master's degree in defense science at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Ljubljana. In 2017, she passed the professional exam for inspector. In 2020, she obtained a certificate of qualification as a member of supervisory boards or management boards of companies. She was also active in the non-governmental sector and is still a member of various societies. She was also a member of several councils of institutions and a member of the supervisory board of the municipality. Until she was appointed to the position of State Secretary at the Ministry of Justice, she was employed at the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption. She has been a mediator for many years. She has also been a lay judge at the Labor and Social Court in Ljubljana for many years.

She spends her free time in nature, preferably in the mountains. She lives with her family in Ljubljana.
