Directorate for Persons with Disabilities
The Directorate for Persons with Disabilities drafts legislation and regulations which have a major impact on the status and life of persons with disabilities in society. It monitors the implementation of national programmes of disability protection, personal assistance, employment, equal opportunities, social inclusion, and others. The Directorate prepares analyses, reports, instructions, expert opinions, and other materials associated with disability policy. It also performs international and national projects in the field of disability.
The Directorate is Focal point and Coordinator of the UN Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities in Slovenia and reports to the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Geneva on its implementation. It further prepares the Action Programme for Persons with Disabilities, manages its implementation, and prepares annual reports with assistance of the Commission for the Monitoring of the Action Programme for Persons with Disabilities.
The Directorate also carries out the expert and administrative tasks for the monitoring mechanism Council for Persons with Disabilities of the Republic of Slovenia.
