Labour Migration Division
The Labour Migration Division drafts proposals for legislative acts and implementing regulations relating to the employment and work of foreign nationals in Slovenia, monitors the implementation of regulations, and participates in the drafting of EU legislative proposals relating to the free movement of labour and services and the entry, residence and employment of third-country nationals. Its representatives also participate in the Advisory Committee on Free Movement of Workers, the Technical Committee on Free Movement of Workers, the Committee of Experts on Posting of Workers and the EU Council working groups on migration.

In matters related to labour migration, the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities cooperates closely with the Employment Service of Slovenia and other ministries, in particular the Ministry of the Interior.
The basic law governing employment, self-employment and work is the Employment, Self-Employment and Work of Aliens Act, which lays down the types and conditions for the employment, self-employment and work of foreigners and the related tasks of the State in regulating and protecting the domestic labour market.
