Non-Governmental Organisations Division
It coordinates the development and implementation of policies among ministries in the field of development and operation of non-governmental organisations and implements general measures to facilitate the State’s cooperation with non-governmental organisations in formulating policies and regulations with a view to securing broad public support for them. It encourages non-governmental organisations to participate in the drafting of regulations and the implementation of public policies.
By implementing measures under the Strategy for the Development of Non-Governmental Organisations and Volunteering, the Service helps create a supportive environment for well-developed, efficient and innovative non-governmental organisations and for their successful response to people’s needs. It promotes well-organised and sustainable volunteering, which is widely viewed as a value and importantly contributes to social wellbeing. The new Non-Governmental Organisations Act systemically regulates the acquisition of the status of an organisation operating in the public interest for non-governmental organisations.
The Division manages the Fund for the Development of Non-Governmental Organisations and, through public calls for proposals, finances projects and programmes of horizontal networks and regional hubs and other measures to strengthen the non-governmental sector.
The tasks of the Division include the provision of professional and technical support to the Council of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for the Promotion of the Development of Volunteering, volunteer and non-governmental organisations, and the Committee of the Republic of Slovenia for the Presentation of State Awards in the Field of Volunteering.
