Marine Accident and Incident Investigation
The maritime accident and incident investigation unit is part of the Ministry of Infrastructure. We try to determine the causes, primarily with the aim of preventing similar events in the future. In order to make marine traffic safer, we compile reports, submit them to the government, and provide advice to the appropriate minister.
The European Maritime Safety Agency, the European Commission, and the International Maritime Organisation are among the European and international organisations to whom we report on our activities. We work in association with the European Maritime Safety Agency, the Permanent Cooperation Framework of the Accident Investigation Authorities, and the Marine Accident Investigators' International Forum. We work with a number of Slovenian commissions and judicial bodies.
